Internships with Echoes

Echoes welcomes college and high school students to apply for unpaid internships. Intern applicants need to be available on two or more weekdays, between the hours of 9am and 6pm. Internship positions require a minimum commitment of 5 hours per week for at least two months.

WEB VIRAL MARKETING ASSISTANT - 5-15 hours a week

Duties: Echoes is on the leading edge of online music content, with an extensive subscription service, podcasts, blogs, MySpace and more. We’re looking for a motivated, web-savvy intern to support our expanding online marketing initiatives. Interns will assist the Senior Producer in mining compatible online media outlets, creating and disseminating compelling copy messages, and reporting results. S/he will also be responsible for updating online listings and other content and designing and formatting blog entries, web pages, and online postings. Ample room for creativity!

Qualifications: Applicants must have a minimum of 5 hours available Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm. Successful candidates will be reliable, detail-oriented, have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently. Candidate must possess an expansive knowledge of the Internet and multimedia Web technology. Experience with web design software and tools such as DreamWeaver, Word Press, PhotoShop, etc. Strong writing, communication and computer skills are required. Attention to detail is very important. This intern should also demonstrate ability to work independently and collaboratively with others. Strong interest in music is a must.

PRODUCTION INTERN - 5 - 15 hours a week

Duties: Assist in production of Echoes. Burn CDs for archives and affiliates. Assist with recording of studio performances, including load-in, setup, and breakdown of artists. Intern will archive audio from interviews & performances, and edit audio as needed using our digital audio editing software. Locate, edit, encode and upload archive interviews and concerts for online listening and alternate distribution. Additionally, intern will inventory & add music to Echoes’s CD library & database.

This internship provides an understanding of the production process for a nationally syndicated public radio show, and is an opportunity to learn the basic principals of recording and editing interviews and music.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a minimum of 5 hours available Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm. Successful candidates will be reliable, detail-oriented, have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently. Basic computer & administrative skills are necessary, with an interest in audio technology a plus. Will train on ProTools and Sound Forge audio production software.


PROGRAMMING ASSISTANT INTERN - 5-15 hours a week

Duties: The Programming Assistant works with Echoes programming staff on a broad range of tasks and projects including:

Assist Senior Producer in working with music industry contacts to request CDs and press kits, obtain legal releases for performances, distribute info about upcoming broadcasts.
Researching show themes.
Maintain online calendars.
Developing prep files for the Senior Producer that contain extensive research about artists booked to perform or be interviewed. This requires online and library research for reviews, bios, and lyrics.
Ongoing development of music history and musician birthday calendars.
Research forthcoming books, movies, and other media related to music.
Assist the Executive Producer in developing copy for our listener and industry enewsletters, creating the enewsletters using our online tools, and maintaining the enewsletter databases.
Other duties as needed include: general clerical duties and working at Echoes special events, photography of artists and other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a minimum of 5 hours available Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm. Successful candidates will be reliable, detail-oriented, have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently. This position must be web savvy and have good PC skills in WordPerfect/MS Word/Excel/FileMaker. Data entry experience, experience with HTML and other web-related computer programming skills a plus. Familiarity with database theory is also a plus. An interest in exploring a career in entertainment and a familiarity with the music Echoes plays is highly desirable.
