ALEX DE GRASSI GOES AMERICANA
Alex De Grassi is one of the icons of finger-style guitar. Since the Bay Area musician debuted on Windham Hill Records in 1978 with TURNING: TURNING BACK he has been fueling the finger-style guitar renaissance, which is still happening. But on his new CD, NOW AND THEN: FOLK SONGS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY (Tropo/33rd Street Records), he goes deep into his childhood roots, resurrecting folk songs from the early years of America. He plays tunes like "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" and "Oh Susanna" true to their melodies, before igniting them with his distinctive brand of guitar work.
