JAN GARBAREK: IN PRAISE OF DREAMS
IN PRAISE OF DREAMS is Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek's latest foray into a music that reaches for the mystical. Garbarek is noted for his more "purely" jazz work with George Russell and Keith Jarrett, but he's always had a more atmospheric sensibility, often recording albums on which he drops the conventional jazz combo. That's the case with IN PRAISE OF DREAMS, an album of haunting moods and searing melodies on which Garbarek is joined by violist Kim Kashkashian and drummer Manu Katché. Rich in texture and searching solos, In Praise Of Dreams awakens on the Echoes soundscape as our October CD of the Month.
