Echoes Playlist
Will Ackerman is best known as a guitarist and founder of Windham Hill Records. He's released many albums and influenced a generation, launching a renaissance of finger-style guitar. On his latest CD, RETURNING (Mary's Tree/Decca), Ackerman returns to favorite songs from across his career, but at the same time he explores his musical past, he uncovers his psychological past as well, including sexual abuse and the suicide of his adoptive mother. These themes are a subtext of Ackerman's instrumental music on songs like "The Impending Death of the Virgin Spirit" to naming his new label, Mary's Tree, after his mother. We hear ghosts with Will Ackerman.
