A ECHOES TECHNO-TRIBAL NEW YEARS STOMP
Each New Year, ECHOES revs up the Beats-Per-Minute and kicks out the jams for a New Year's Eve Techno-Tribal celebration. Drawing from the same well-springs of the usual ECHOES soundscape, ECHOES forms a seamless path into the new year, with music that dances in your head. John Diliberto matches beats and mixes atmospheres, riding the pulse of some of the newest ambient and techno-tribal music, creating the ultimate New Years Eve chill- out room. If your listeners are accustomed to ECHOES on Monday nights, this will be a special treat for them as we depart the year of Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey.

PEPPINO D'AGOSTINO & DAVID TANENBAUM: STRING THEORY
David Tanenbaum is a renowned classical guitarist whose repertoire stretches from Baroque pieces to the most modern classical composers. Peppino D'Agostino is a self-taught guitarist from Italy who's part of the Post-windham Hill generation of acoustic steel-strung finger-style guitarists. The two got together last year to record the album, CLASSIC/STEEL. They get together to talk about nylon, steel and string theory.

TOM HEASLEY: AMBIENT TUBA
"Ambient" is an adjective we toss around a lot on Echoes, but we've never applied it to the tuba until Tom Heasley's album, WHERE THE EARTH MEETS THE SKY (Hypnos). Heasley, who lives in Palo Alto, Ca, uses extensive electronic processing to turn his tuba into a pod of whales and a galactic transport ship in slow motion, languid soundscapes. It often sounds electronic, but every sound begins on the tuba. Heasley puffs up and blows when he demonstrates his techniques on Echoes.
