BILLY MCLAUGHLIN'S OUT OF HAND JIVE
Billy McLaughlin is another post-Michael Hedges guitar picker
with more alternate playing techniques than the entire 49er
backfield. On his latest album, "Out Of Hand," (Narada) he adds a
rhythm section to his already dynamic guitar style. We untangle
the strings of Billy McLaughlin who talks about his technique and
his inventive new album.

WILLIAM WATSON'S SOLO PIANO HYMNAL
William Watson grew up the son of 60's Civil Rights activists in
Mississippi. He spent his youth shuttling from one black church
to another, soaking up gospel tunes. Now he turns those tunes
into his own evocative piano solos on two albums, Fields and
Burnham Woods. We visit William Watson in his San Francisco home
where he gives us the gospel.

CLARA PONTY'S EMBRACE
On her second CD, "The Embrace," (Philips) pianist Clara Ponty
brings in world music percussion and ambient atmospheres to
surround her serene, often romantic piano melodies. In her
Manhattan home, Clara talks about her new music and works out a
piece with percussionist Mino Cinelu.

TEN TRENDS FOR TEN YEARS OF ECHOES: TECHNO-TRIBAL
In many ways, Techno-Tribal is a sub-genre of World Fusion, but
these musicians explore a darker, more rhythmic and electronic
sound world. Steve Roach initially coined the term, before it
was usurped by ambient and techno musicians. But sticking with
the original concept, we'll hear Roach, Robert Rich, Jorge Reyes,
Tuu, Loop Guru and others using technology to turn primal sounds
into modern soundscapes.
