A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH RUDY ADRIAN
Rudy Adrian is a New Zealand based composer who creates music inspired by the 70s spacescapes of Tangerine Dream and the ambient sounds of Brian Eno. Rudy Adrian touches down in the Echoes Living Room where he improvises a quartet of floating atmospheres and overdrive excursions similar to his recent CD, Starfields.

Wednesday 10/02/02
SUZANNE CIANI-MUSIC FROM THE GROTTO
Keyboardist Suzanne Ciani is still well-known for her commercial work in the 1970s and 80s, including the sound of a can of coke being opened, the GE dishwasher beep and the music you hear whenever you get AT&T on the phone. She was also a pioneer of contemporary electronic music, releasing her first album, SEVEN WAVES, on the avant-garde Finadar label in 1984. Since then, Ciani has left her avant-garde roots, including studies with Donald Buchla, far behind. She makes a romantic music now and is more likely to sit behind her piano keyboard than her computer keyboard. In her coastal Marin County home, Ciani talks about the pastoral influences on her music and takes us into her grotto.

Thursday 10/03/02
ED BILOUS: WAY WEST OF MANHATTAN
Ed Bilous is a journeyman composer working in commercials, soundtracks and TV scores. This past year, he composed an atmospheric score for PBS's reality series, "Frontier House." Bilous didn't just key in on the rustic sounds of 19th century America in the west, he used minimalist techniques, world music elements and the warm guitar sound of Kristofer Ricat to sculpt the emotions and landscapes of the series. In his Manhattan studio, we talk with Ed Bilous about heading west from Manhattan.

Friday 10/04/02
