INTERVIEWS AND CONCERTS FOR THE WEEK

Monday 10/27
A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH DAVID PRITCHARD
Three guitars in spirals

Since the early 1990s, composer/guitarist David Pritchard has been making a minimalist derived, melodically driven music based on multiple guitars playing interlocking, dizzying, maze-like compositions that draw you into their spinning cycles like a fractal web. It's entrancing to hear, difficult to play. We'll listen to David Pritchard with an acoustic guitar trio doing it live when they step into the Echoes living room.

Tuesday 10/28
On the next Echoes, it's the debut of Vapor Trails, our 14th volume of Echoes Living Room Concerts. We'll hear live performances by the electronica spaces of Ulrich Schnauss, the chamber Americana of Tom Rothrock and the haunting piano of Ludovico Einaudi.

ALEX DE GRASSI ENTERS THE ECHOES CHAMBER
Finger-style wizard untangles the sounds of strings and more

Alex De Grassi was among a handful of guitarists who defined finger-style playing in the 1970s and 80s. We put Alex under the headphones and play him music sight unseen as he identifies contemporaries, influences and musical progeny.

Thursday 10/30

We hear new music from Vic Hennegan on Echoes. He's a disciple of Tangerine Dream and he goes retro-electronic on a CD called Aqua Vista. We'll also have something new from the Mediaeval Baebes, with their modern take on ancient madrigals on a new CD called Illumination.

AN ECHOES HALLOWEEN
The dark side of Echoes on a haunted night
Lock the doors, close the windows, turn off the lights and just leave one candle burning for an Echoes Halloween. We'll dip into the dark side of the Echoes soundscape to bring you atmospheres and chills for Halloween.
