LANTERNA: "HIGHWAYS"
Lanterna is guitarist Henry Frayne, a musician who's on the leading edge of Ambient Americana music. Based in Champaign, Illinois, Frayne has been recording as Lanterna since the mid-1990s. Before that he was a member of the ethereal rock groups Area and Moon Seven Times. As Lanterna, Frayne articulates an open-air, country-tinged sound that recalls Ry Cooder's Paris, Texas soundtrack but with a more electronica and ambient edge. His latest CD, HIGHWAYS, released on the Badman label, is a perfect soundtrack for a journey heading west into the sun.
